how about a news/pictures section so Healeyistas can post their run/car pics?
Also how about a members section so we can see the reprobates using this forum, something like the New Forest AHC members section at http://www.nfahc.co.uk/Members2.htm.

I know this is a thorny/perennial issue but is it possible to change the way pictures are downloaded to the site to make it easier, ie not through a third party picture hosting site, or is it still an extra expense??

Sorry but it's out of my control, it's just the way the board works.
I do agree with you, but can't do anything!
Do other boards let you upload - I can't remember? The main other one I use is Pistonheads and you have to host the photos yourself on there.
I think the US British Car forum lets you upload, but that is a specially written piece of software that runs on their own servers, whereas Hyperboards is a standard (and free) thing that I just tag along on.

Retro Rides, V8 Forum and Modifieds are all the same in that you have to host your pictures externally. Free picture hosting depends on advertising and premium pay accounts and the number of Healey based pictures we all have wouldn't bring in a bean.

The BMW forum I frequent does allow uploads, but only for very small images. I much prefer to host my own and then I can put up images at a resolution and quality that are worth viewing (I hope) - usually about 200-300K apiece. A decent sticky describing how to use photobucket or imageshack is always a help to newbies.

I use the Alfaowner, Alfa Bulletin Board and Drag Racing Nostalgia boards and they all allow you to use pictures directly from your own computer images at a good size and resolution. I know that directions on how to post have been put on this site but it is still a bit more involved.....

The Healey forum is free from advertising and 'begging bowls' because
1. It's small
2. John (Admin) kindly pays all the fees
3. It's a low bandwidth operation facilitated by hosting pictures elsewhere.
Now if a benefactor would like to step forward.......
